L-188 Electra Eastern Mahogany Model
The L-188 Electra is an American turboprop airliner built by Lockheed. The L-188 first flew in 1957, and was the first large turboprop airliner produced in the United States. Unfortunately after two fatal crashes, no further orders were placed – only 170 were built. However, many were modified as freighters and the type continues to operate in various roles into the 21st Century.
This specific model is painted in the Eastern Airlines paint scheme. Eastern Airlines was a major United States airline that existed from 1926 to 1991.
