Description
McDonnell Douglas C-9A Nightingale Limited Edition Large Mahogany Model
As with most aircraft, the McDonnell Douglas C-9A’s nickname is a clue to the aircraft’s purpose. Called the Nightingale, the Air Force C-9A was a medevac aircraft, essentially, an emergency room with wings. The C-9A was the first jet-propelled aircraft to serve the military in such a capacity, coming into service in 1968. The C-9A transported thousands of patients before its retirement in 2005.
