The star player among the kit’s trio of parts is the RAM Universal X-Grip Cradle for 12″ Tablets. Its four spring-loaded stainless steel arms expand and retract to provide a gentle-yet-firm hold on large tablets of varying sizes (7 1/4″-8 3/4″ W, up to 7/8″ D; * Max length with additional supports [optional] is 10 1/4″; unlimited w/o additional supports). Rubber-coated tips safeguard your gadget from nicks and scratches, and the cradle’s open-frame design fosters unobstructed access to all ports, buttons, camera lenses, etc. The combo’s anchoring element is a 2 1/2″ D round base with pre-drilled holes in the universal AMPs pattern. Its flat face enables the unit to fasten to an assortment of flush surfaces such as glareshield tops, instrument panels, shelves, and a variety of RAM and third-party products (sold separately). Both the X-Grip and the AMPs disk have 1″ rubber ball heads that connect to the combo’s double socket arm.
