Description
Bell® UH-1D Iroquois Limited Edition Large Mahogany Model
In 1956, Bell stretched and refined the Bell 204 into the HU-1A, commonly pronounced “Huey.” Later, it was re-designated the UH-1A, but the name stuck! More than 16,000 UH-1s in several variants have been produced, including the UH-1D, which our model represents. Designed to be a troop carrier, it became the workhorse of the Vietnam War, also performing medivac, supply, and even gunship roles. It could carry 14 fully armed troops or 6 stretchers and a medic. It has a cruise speed of 125 mph. Production ceased in 1987. Interesting fact: The UH-1 Huey was the first turbine-powered helicopter in the US military.
