Curtiss P-40E Warhawk (Hold’n My Own) Limited Edition Large Mahogany Model
Lt. Boyd D. Wagner became the first American ace of World War II when he shot down six Japanese aircraft in the Philippines in mid-December 1941 in a Curtiss P-40E Warhawk. Also known as a Tomahawk and a Kittyhawk, The Curtiss P-40E featured six wing-mounted 50-cal. machine guns. It served as the Army Air Corps’ primary front-line fighter in the first half of the war. The P-40E saw a lot of combat but was eventually replaced by the more advanced Republic P-47 Thunderbolt and Lockheed P-38 Lightning.
