While Lyons’ rendering of the plane is as picture-perfect as any illustration could ever be, viewers will certainly appreciate his use of a nearby puddle to show off a mirror image of the aircraft’s empennage. Further enhancing the picture’s appeal is the artist’s phenomenally detailed vegetation; brilliant, partly cloudy sky; broken-in two-bay hangar – complete with a rooftop windsock; and even a pair of fuel pumps in the distance.
