Vietnam Huey Collection Mahogany Model
This collection of three UH-1D Huey helicopter models includes Gunship, Slick and Medevac. The Bell UH-1 Iroquois is a military helicopter powered by a single, turboshaft engine, with a two-bladed main rotor and tail rotor. The helicopter was developed to meet the United States Army’s requirement for a medical evacuation and utility helicopter in 1952, and first flew in October 1956. The first combat operation of the UH-1 was in the service of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, approximately 7,000 UH-1 aircraft saw service in Vietnam.
The helicopters were modifed based on their main purpose. Ones that has guns were nicknamed “Guns” or “Gunships”. Ones used for troop transport were nicknamed “Slick” because of the absence of weapon pods. And ones used for medical evacuation were known as “Medevac” helicopters.
